BGCGMW 2010 Youth of the Year

This years winner of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Gordon, Murray, & Whitfield Counties "Youth of the Year” competition is Courtney Bauer.  Courtney is a sophomore at Murray County High School.  She has a 3.25 GPA and was nominated for the Georgia Governors Honor’s Program.  Courtney is an active member of the youth group at her local church, and she volunteers at a nursing home where she sings, plays board games, and talks with the elderly residents. 

Courtney represented the Boys & Girls Clubs of Gordon, Murray, & Whitfield Counties in the state Youth of the Year competition held in Atlanta.  Winning a $1,000 college scholarship and finishing in the runner up category, Courtney has high hopes to return next year for a chance to win the state and national titles.   

Courtney sees the Club as a place where she can be herself.  Through the Club, she has developed close relationships with Club Staff and Club Members.  She lives in Chatsworth with her aunt and uncle, and she hopes to attend Georgia State University to study early childhood development.
